Large capacity funnel |
This shredder has very high throughput and needs a large ergonomically designed feed funnel so the operators can throw large volumes of material into the machine. |

Safety curtains |
The S425 uses half length safety curtains just forward of the feed roller.
The curtains whilst protecting the operator do not impede ability to see what the machine is actually doing. Most chippers and shredders fitted with full size curtains can actually make the operation of the machine more hazardous as the operators view is obscured plus when dealing with soft material the operator has to put his arms and shoulders through the curtains just to get the material into the feed hopper.
No such problems for the S425 – machine can be loaded with very soft material from a safe distance with no compromise on the operators safety. |

Oversize heavy duty feed roller |
The oversize feed roller easily climbs on a wide variety of material. The eight roller blades get hold of material and with the aid of the 4 springs control the speed the material is presented to the shredding mechanism. |

Replaceable roller blades |
The roller blades are going to get some rough treatment. They are made of hardened metal that will chip and flake, this is normal. The blades will work for hundreds of hours. When it comes time to replace them, you can change them individually without the need to change the whole roller mechanism. Keeping running costs for the customer to a minimum. |

High efficiency shredding mechanism |
18 swinging hammers do the hard work. The clever bit is making these hammers work efficiently and effectively on a wide range of material. These are no ordinary hammers. They are designed not to jam together whilst at the same time able to produce a very consistent product.
Protected hammer shafts – the hammers run in a bush that slides on the shredder shaft. This protects and extends the life of the shaft and the hammer so both are capable of doing hundreds of hours of work before replacement is necessary.
Replaceable hammers – extremely tough cutting hammers can handle multiple types of material including green waste, contaminated timber, brash, pallets, root balls, cardboard, potted plants, plastics and packaging. Designed to wear slowly they work effectively throughout the wearing process and are very quick and easy to replace.
Anti wrap design – The feed roller and shredder mechanism both have anti wrap characteristics designed into them. Very fibrous stringy material finds it very hard to gain access to a shaft where it can start wrapping. The roller has its own cutting action that after a few revolutions cuts through the material and the hammers pass very close to the cutting anvil so as wrapping starts to occur the hammer breaks the material against the hammer.
High pressure air flow – not only does the shredding mechanism carry the hammers it also incorporates the heavy duty air paddles that generate positive air pressure within the shredding housing and enable the shredder to have an effective discharge that is capable of moving large volumes of very soft or green material.
Auto feed control – For maximum shredding performance the shredding mechanism is coupled to an auto feed control unit. This monitors the material going into the shredder and senses any overload situation it then automatically controls the roller at the optimum forward feed rate to ensure the material goes through without blocking.
Auto backoff – Working with the auto feed control is the auto backoff. If the auto feed control is activated the auto backoff is also activated and the roller actually backs the material off the shredding mechanism a fraction. This serves 2 purposes, the 1 st is by keeping the material off the hammers the mechanism can accelerate back to its working speed quickly and the machine is ready quicker for the next piece and secondly we've all seen shredders that look like they're about to set fire to themselves because a piece of material is being held against the hammer. A part from the smoke the machine is suffering because the friction is building up enormous temperatures on the hammers, shafts and bearings. |

Large discharge tube with 270 degree rotation |
Extra heavy duty tube is designed to carry the shredded material in its optimal arc to that it is effectively discharge in a controlled manner. Coupled with the high air throughput and the discharge design, this shredder can easily and cleanly load a large truck with shreddings.
The discharge can be rotated through 270 degrees for versatile discharge, but most importantly it can not be fired back over the operators head or within his normal work position . |
